中国政府友谊奖获得者柯瑞卿: 在贵州看到合作发展的空间 Gretchen sees opportunities for cooperation and development in Guizhou

“虽然是第一次来到贵州，但我早已耳闻过它的魅力，包括美丽的自然风景、民族多样性、生物多样性、很好的基础设施建设等，当然还有美食。同时很多人都告诉过我贵州有多么美妙和有趣。现在我知道，他们是对的。”

“Although it"s my first time to come to Guizhou, I understood some aspects of its charms, in terms of natural beauty, in terms of ethnic diversity, in terms of biodiversity, in terms of good infrastructure, in terms of good food, etc. I"ve been told by many people how wonderful and interesting it is, and they were correct. ”

虽是初识贵州，但中国政府友谊奖获得者、四川大学-香港理工大学灾后重建与管理学院院长柯瑞卿教授一直对贵州有着期待。这次贵州之旅，让她感到不虚此行。

Despite being new to Guizhou, Professor Gretchen Kalonji, recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and Dean of the Institute for Disaster Management and Reconstruction (IDMR) at Sichuan University-The Hong Kong Polytechnic University held high expectations for the region. This trip to Guizhou has confirmed her expectations.

“我们可以到茶园里看看吗？我很喜欢喝茶。”来到湄潭，看到漫山遍野的茶园，柯瑞卿兴致勃勃地说。

"Can we go to the tea garden? I really love drinking tea," said Gretchen with great enthusiasm when she saw the tea plantations scattered throughout Meitan County.

湄潭是这次行程中她印象最为深刻的一站，不只是因为茶园风光，更因为茶产业给当地群众的生活带来的巨大变化。

Meitan was the most memorable stop for her during this trip, not only because of the tea gardens" scenery but also because of the tremendous changes the tea industry has brought to the locals" lives.

“茶叶的销售渠道是怎样的？”

“围绕茶叶是否产生了衍生产业？”

"What is the sales channel for tea?"

"Has the tea industry resulted in any derivative industries?"

一边走一边聊，湄潭县龙凤村村党总支书记、村委会主任伍荣明一一为柯瑞卿进行解答。

As they walked, Wu Rongming, the party secretary of Longfeng Village, and the director of the village committee answered Gretchen"s questions one by one.

湄潭已连续三年成为全国茶业百强县之首，从种植、加工到销售的产业链已经成熟，以茶叶为原料制成的饮料、食品销售十分红火，柯瑞卿还和大家一起品尝了茶叶汤圆等特色菜品……一切都让她对这片茶园有着特别的感受。

Meitan has been the top county in the national tea industry for three consecutive years, and its tea industry chain, from planting to processing and sales, has matured. Beverages and food made from tea are selling very well. Gretchen also tasted local delicacies like tea dumplings. All of this gave her a special feeling toward this tea garden.

在龙凤村田家沟的黔北民居和荷塘间漫步时，伍荣明仔细地介绍了当地的发展政策，他说群众喜不喜欢这个产业、支不支持政策，主要在于收益好不好。柯瑞卿认真地回应，把效益留在当地、留给农民，这样产业发展会更好。

While walking between the houses withnorthern Guizhou features and the lotus ponds in Longfeng Village, Wu Rongming carefully introduced the local development policies. He said that whether the people like this industry and support the policy depends mainly on whether the income is good or not. Gretchen responded seriously, saying that the benefits should be left in the local area and to the farmers so that the industry can develop better.

作为中美科学政策对话顾问委员会成员和中美绿色能源委员会董事会成员，柯瑞卿也对中国的乡村建设做过许多和环境保护、生态多样性相关的长期研究。她认为，乡村建设开发的主要目的应当是支持和改善当地人的生活，同时保护环境。

As a member of the China-US Science and Technology Policy Dialogue Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors of the China-US Green Energy Council, Gretchen has conducted long-term research related to environmental protection and biodiversity in China"s rural construction. She believes that the main purpose of rural construction and development should be to support and improve the lives of local people while protecting the environment.

在她看来，湄潭的乡村环境很有吸引力，非常舒适。“我对这里的总体印象是，人们生活得相当不错。”

In her opinion, the rural environment of Meitan is very attractive and comfortable. "My overall impression here is that people are living quite well."

柯瑞卿所在的参访团里有驻华使节、青年外交官和国际青年学者，大家戴上斗笠、背着背篓到茶园中采茶，并亲自体验了炒茶制茶的过程。“我看到我的外国伙伴们脸上都洋溢着大笑，大家都主动要求与当地人合影。这和我们以前遇到的情况有很大的不同。”

In the visiting group where Gretchen was, there were diplomatic envoys, young diplomats, and international young scholars. They all wore bamboo hats and carried baskets to pick tea in the tea garden, and personally experienced the process of frying and making tea. "Everybody, I was watching, the other members of our group, and their faces were filled with these big smiles all the time, everyone volunteered to take pictures with the locals, instead of the other way around."

三天的参访行程中，柯瑞卿在遵义会议会址感受了历史的厚重，在茶海、竹林中感受了贵州生态发展之美，在乌江寨、田家沟体验了乡村发展之美……她说自己很喜欢这次旅程，因为有机会看到很多有趣的地方，并结识了一些新朋友，看到了合作发展的空间和机会。

During the three-day visit, Gretchen experienced the great history at the Site of the Zunyi Conference, felt the beauty of Guizhou"s ecological development in the tea sea and bamboo forest, and experienced the beauty of rural development in Wujiang village and Tianjiagou village. She said she liked this trip very much because she had the opportunity to see many interesting places, made some new friends, and saw opportunities for cooperation and development.

“我想我一定会再来的。”她说。
